Ștefan Câlția

Ștefan Câlția (b. 1942, Brașov) is one of the most important contemporary Romanian artists, recognized for his unmistakable visual universe, populated by mysterious characters, suspended landscapes, and symbols of a poetic, timeless world. A graduate of the "Nicolae Grigorescu" Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest, Câlția was a disciple of master Corneliu Baba, from whom he inherited compositional rigor and expressive depth.

Ștefan Câlția's work is dominated by a fairytale atmosphere, a fantastic order where reality naturally blends with imagination. Whether it's paintings, drawings, or serigraphs, the artist explores themes such as flight, time, memory, and freedom, in a complex and refined visual language.
