Rudolph Negely

Rudolf Négely (1883–1950) was a Hungarian painter active in the first half of the 20th century, known for the chromatic refinement and poetic atmosphere of his works. Trained in a Central European artistic environment strongly influenced by Impressionism, Négely explored various themes, from landscapes and seascapes to still lifes and urban compositions.

His paintings are distinguished by a free and vibrant brushstroke, a luminous palette, and a keen sense of balance between form and color. The artist was particularly drawn to Italian marine landscapes, such as Venice, Naples, Trieste, etc., whose reflections, canals, and open skies offered him an ideal setting to experiment with the subtle effects of light on water and architecture.
