George Mazilu

Georges Mazilu, originally from Vânjuleț, Mehedinți, began studying art in adolescence and graduated from the Nicolae Grigorescu Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest in 1974. His unique style is distinguished by an intriguing fusion of traditional forms and modern elements, challenging the viewer to explore new interpretations of visual reality.

Mazilu's works are known for their syntactic complexity and their ability to stimulate a reconsideration of conventional visual solutions. After moving to France in 1982, his style evolved, integrating themes of alienation and introspection, reflecting his cultural and personal transition.

Exhibited in international galleries and collections such as France, USA, Canada, and the Netherlands, Mazilu continues his exploration of the human form and emotional landscape through paintings that connect the traditional with the contemporary in a captivating visual dialogue. This approach gives his work a vibrant and relevant presence in modern art.
