Ludovic Bassarab

Ludovic Bassarab would successively attend the Academy of Arts in Iași, the Academy of Arts in Munich, and the Academy in Paris. In Romania, he frequently exhibited with the well-known groups – the Artistic Youth or the Official Salon. He appeared before the public through solo exhibitions starting in 1902, when he presented a series of works at the Romanian Athenaeum. Among other things, he created banknote and stamp designs and miniatures on ivory or parchment. Ludovic Bassarab exhibited in the halls of the Crystal Palace in the Bavarian capital, as well as in Berlin, alongside other foreign painters trained at the Munich school. Among his preferred themes are rural life and the lives of nomads; and in creating his works, he generally adheres to the rigors of academism.
